Women with a difference
In life, it goes without saying that there is a variety of women in their different colours, personalities, shapes, thought processes and ways of being. Each has been fearfully and wonderfully made by the Lord God himself to play and fulfil various roles whilst on earth.
God in his infinite wisdom knows that before any man or woman can take on a significant role be it in business, school, work and so worth, preparation is key. God structures the events in our lives to prepare us for each level we need to ascend to. The book of Exodus 1:15-22 teaches of such preparations by two phenomenal women named Shiphrah and Puah.
A decree was made by king of Egypt to all Hebrew midwives that any Hebrew woman who gives birth to a son, that son must be killed! Shiphrah and Puah however feared God more than a mortal king and boldly disobeyed the king’s decree. The king found out about their disobedience and brought them forth for questioning. "Why have you done this, and let the male children live?" The midwives said to Pharaoh, "Because the Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women; for they are vigorous and are delivered before the midwife comes to them."
These two phenomenal women put their lives at risk for God’s sake. In the midst of a difficult choice, they chose God. They chose to do what is right by God above their own personal security. These were woman after God’s own heart, women with a difference, women who were deeply intimate and one with God even in the midst of the possibility of their own personal loss of life.
These women faced a difficult test yet they passed with flying colours and the Lord God rewarded them significantly. God rewarded their obedience to him by giving them children of their own, houses and bestowed upon them great honour. Today in 2018 we turn our bibles to the account of this extraordinary teaching and we can learn from example!
For elevation and promotion to come, God needs proof that he can trust you to that which is right in his sight. Shiphrah and Puah were tested and likewise, God will test you too, that is the preparation that determines whether or not you will be “a woman with a difference” Pass the test, put God first, it will never be in vain.
